So, You’ve Lost A Tooth: Dental Implants vs Fixed Bridges

Teeth are one of the most sensitive organs of our body and they need proper care and attention. It is very essential that we brush twice daily and floss weekly at least. It is also important to go to the dentist for regular check ups at least twice a year to ensure that everything is fine in our mouths. However, going to the dentist on a regular basis can be most a time consuming and costly process and many of us do not go on a regular basis. In many cases this results in loosing teeth.

Previously, fixed or partial dental bridges were used for replace missing teeth. However, this solution has become less popular as the use of dental implants has become more and more prevalent. Dental implants include a titanium socket which is fixed in our jaw line where our original teeth were. After our gums have healed around the socket, which usually takes a few months, a crown is placed on top of the socket.

Dental implants provide a much more natural look than dental bridges. Moreover, they are not as hard to clean and other wise maintain as dental bridges. And, because dental implants are inserted in your jaw, there is less chance of them breaking and needing to be replaced.
